José de San Martín is the Libertador of Argentina, Chile, and Peru. He was born in the Americas to Spanish parents and returned to Spain when he was only six years old. His love for the country of his birth was so strong that he abandoned a brilliant military career in Spain to join his countrymen in the war for Independence.
