The leading character in this book is called Ying Qi, who used to be the servant to Xiaowu. Ying Qi was accidentally promoted after death of Xiaowu and was involved in the political confrontation. After several confrontations, he retired. The author activates familiar ancient books and records in Han Dynasty with passion and abundant artistic imagination from art and successfully fosters a typical life of classical figure in Han Dynasty in elegant and plain language. His process of endeavor reflects all aspects of the society in Han Dynasty. In the fourth year of Zhenghe, Emperor Wudi thought the prince would reel, so he ordered to fight the army of the prince. The prince committed suicide. Shen Wu, who was a Jinzhaoyin that assisted the prince, committed suicide by jumping from the cliff. Other followers such as Ying Qi were arrested and then later forgiven. Ying Qi went back to hometown Yuzhang County; Yan Changnian committed suicide because humiliation he suffered in the public because Yan Changnian was competing with Ying Qi to win the love of E Jun, sister of the county director. Yan Lechang therefore heated Ying Qi so much and swore to revenge for his son. He bribed the Zhao Guangguo, who was the prefecture chief of Yuzhang via making orders to push Ying Qingji to death, who was Ying Qi’s uncle with orders.
